It's incredibly satisfying to take an object or material that has come to the end of its original life and reuse it to create something new and interesting.

These light cubes cast streatched patterns and shadows that create an interesting effect on the walls of any space.

The cage-like structure of the cube creates fascinating patterns of light and shadow

I was working on an office refit at a corporate centre, which involved a strip out of everything, including the elevators.

I was struck by the grid-pattern panels in the elevator ceilings and decided they could be repurposed to create large, geometric light sculptures.

The design of the panels enabled them to be slotted together securely to form a cage-like cube. I simply added a halogen spotlight into the corner of each structure.

This design is an example of how a found material can become something completely different.

The Light Cube is a perfect example of how materials can become something which they are not.
