Layered casting resin and two pack polyurethane coated steel. 2004
With growing expertise in pouring resin, I wanted to create larger pieces using the material in both translucent and opaque finishes.

process
Resin is a challenging material to work with because of issues with shrinkage and cracking, but when perfect, the end result is like no other!
I experimented with different volumes of resin, colours and finish, until I was confident that I could consistently achieve the right quality.

The stools were produced in two ‘flavours’ – Hard Candy and Liquorice Allsort – each design requiring multiple pours of resin. The Hard Candy stools were made by surrounding a solid white resin cylinder with bright, translucent colour.
The resin tops were then attached to my own tripod leg design, made from reo bar and coated in industrial two pack epoxy paint. Looking like candy-cane they finish off the sweet theme.
