stainless & tallowwood

process

The frames were constructed from square section stainless steel in two sizes – 50mm for the table and 38mm for the benches to achieve a balance of scale. The welds were mitred and ground to give a seamless surface. I then cut, treated and attached the tallowwood slats. For extra space and storage, the benches slide into the underneath of the table.

I love my designs to be well used and appreciated. After 10 years this table still looks as pristine as it did when it was made.

The tables needed to be durable and weather-resistant, so I created a design that is both structuraly and visually pure, from stainless steel and tallowwood. I find the combination of flawless stainless steel and natural timber very appealing.

I designed this table as part of a corporate refit I did for Carnival Australia back in 2006. It was one of three matching pieces designed for the outdoor areas.
